Grunge at Dusk

Alex Banuelos and I really loved the idea of a grunge look just as the sun goes down! Unfortunately, its just like golden hour, where times doesn't care if your shooting with the perfect light. The sun is setting and you have 20 minutes of good light. annnnnnd GO! thats kinda how it is with any shoot really.. all my photographer friends out there know exactly what im talking about!
But at the end of the day, you gotta goof off a little and have some fun! so through the lens, Alex is modeling. In real life, if you were to watch us shoot this last night, we were goofing off and laughing in between all these shots! Enjoy!

Pink Skulls and Knee Highs. DUH.

I got the skull for $0.70 at the thrift store. Talk about "pinch me!!!" too perfect. I was so excited to shoot with Ashley Mahony and do this creepy/definition hipster shoot. AH! I'm obsessed.

Roof Top Hood Rats

Now, before I start, let me explain something. This shoot was WAAYYYY too perfect. no really... so I met up with Caroline Haydon from Instagram, she is an impossibly perfect model to work with! You'll see what I mean when you see these photos.. So we collaborated an idea of using a rooftop in Downtown LA to portray a sense of "anonymous-ness". We both wanted to tell a story that was an intimate moment for the subject and the camera is just kinda there to witness this experience.
So we get to the apartment building, and I tug on the door and it, of course, was locked. We then are thinking of plan B..  which is just pick another building to sneak onto, basically. Then we see this man walking towards us with groceries and we both are thinking the same thing.. just hold on a minute.. yep. he's opening the door. so we slide in behind him (!!!) jump in the elevator and climb to the roof top, hop a few safety rails, (who needs em?! LOL) and climb to the edge of a 14 story high building.
For some of these shots, I layed down and stuck my arm and head over the edge of the 14 stories.. I'm telling you, as scary as that sounds, (nope, neither of us were strapped or harnessed down) I was in some kind of photo shoot utopia, I didn't even think twice about it. (sorry mom.)
And then, we shoot and shoot until we were about to faint of heat exhaustion.
Needless to say, this shoot got people talking like wildfire. Until now, I've only shared a few shots here and there, but here's the whole shoot. I think I'll always have more to edit, but for now, here's some spectacular, serendipitous, anonymous esque photos to start off your weekend the right way!
